What Do You See When You Look In The Mirror?

When do we stop saying "I see me"?
"When I Look in the Mirror is an accompanying documentary piece to the John Legend You & I music video made in EVERDREAM. We asked 63 women what they see when they look in the mirror to explore self-image, self-judgement, and ultimately self-love. #OperationGirl"
Karen Whitelaw-Smith recently shared a video of a wonderful female stone mason, who has worked for the last 30 years creating beautiful sculptures, walls, "stories" with stone. One of the things that stood out for me was that she needed all different shapes, sizes and textures of stone for her beautiful creations to work.

Every single stone has an important role in creating the wall, in making the wall interesting and together the stones create a masterpiece.
I love the video above. Seeing these girls and women recognising their beauty and worth, having fun and loving themselves. It also made me cry to see how we punish ourselves, seeing things in the mirror we dislike.
We compare ourselves to others and build stories in our minds of what we think we should look like and how different we are from that idea.
What we see isn't what anyone else sees and isn't always the truth. We need to celebrate how wonderful we are, share our individuality with the World and step into our unique roles.
YOU have to be different! We need you just as you are, to create and to be interesting. Just like the stones, you are a key part of a masterpiece.
You are a work of art!
When you look in the mirror, look at all the things you love about yourself, on what you've achieved and overcome.
Where have you been brave, bold and beautiful?
What do you see in the mirror?

Be brave, Be Bold, You're Beautiful!
x Louise
