City Slacker - Romantic Comedy
As a screen actress (and major film fanatic) I am very excited about the future of film, especially seeing many more leading and strong female roles than ever before.
Amanda in City Slacker -beautifully played by Fiona Gillies (who also produced CS)- is a wonderful example of a Brave, Bold and Beautiful woman in film. I was lucky enough to have a small part in City Slacker and to see the brilliant Fiona Gillies in action.
Synopsis:
Amanda (Fiona Gillies), a corporate high-flyer, finds out that the eggs she had frozen in her prime, ready to use when she’d achieved all her career goals, have been accidentally de-frosted in a cryogenic catastrophe. She’s on a fertility nose dive and if she wants to have a baby she’s going to have to conceive as nature intended, and quickly. To complicate matters, Ray (Tom Conti), her estranged father, arrives on her doorstep having lost everything in an ill-advised deal. Amanda has no intention of giving up her hard won career, so she needs a man with the magic combination of youth, intelligence, good looks and, crucially, a total lack of ambition, to bring up their baby. Step forward Dan (Geoffrey Streatfeild), who appears to be the perfect slacker. She isn’t strictly honest about her motives but then, neither is he. And lurking in the background is her ex, Charles (Adrian Lukis), plotting a very public humiliation for them both.

From ballsy, boardroom, boss to giggling, girly, girlfriend. You will be swept along with Amanda on a familiar journey, trying to juggle the many different hats of work and personal life.
Amy Poehler (another fabulous actress/ comedian) describes this feeling to a male reporter during a recent interview for Sundance TV.

"Well, this feeling that you're having right now — which is like, 'I'm supposed to be all things' — is a feeling that women have every day and have their whole lives."
Fiona Gillies with the brilliant Tom Conti who plays her Dad in City Slacker.

Look our for me in the boardroom:

I'm a big fan of Rom-Com's and this one ticks every box. It's a 'dear little tale' that will leave your cheeks aching, your heart swelling and will send you off to bed with that warm fuzzy feeling that (besides a great relationship) only a great Rom-Com can do.
Put your feet up, grab your tissues, popcorn and enjoy!
